18k and silver Antique Diamond and Paste Butterfly Brooch

Victorian bug jewelry is one of my favorite categories of brooches. They had SO much fun with insects and animals during this time period and I am HERE FOR IT. This one features a beautiful red "paste" stone in the center, surrounded by rose cut diamonds. It is 18k gold with a French eagle head mark and silver. The safety chain tests low 14k with my touchstone tester. It weighs 5.53 grams and measures approximately 54 mm x 25mm.
